I had an uncle when I was growing up who was so much fun. He was constantly playing games with me and teasing me about things. We all went to church together and I remember standing on the front porch of the church on summer Sunday nights. We would be the greeters (we didn't know that's what we were then) and Uncle Floyd would create games to play with me. One of my favorite games was a game where he would make me guess what he had in his hand and then he would give it to me. I was too young to realize that he was going to give it to me whether I guessed it right or not. He would let me put my small hands in his big hands and feel the object to help me guess it. It was gum or candy or money. It could be a piece of trash and then later he would give me the gum or mints. Those are wonderful memories. He passed away too young and I miss his playful fun attitude so much.
This morning when I woke up the first thought that I had was," God thank you for this new week you have given me". I thought, I don't know what you have in your hand for me today or this week, but I know what ever it is, it will be good. How do I know that? Because God is good. He doesn't just do good things, He is good. His thoughts toward me are good. His actions toward me are good. He is just good.
I have a plan for my day and for my week. I know what I expect to be doing, but there is no way for me to know the variables or the surprises. I cannot know how people will respond to my plans and my actions. They may embrace them or reject them or ignore them, I don't know. But I do know whatever God has in His hand for me this week will be good. It is something he pre-selected just for me. It is something to work His plan in my life.
Jeremiah said it best in Jeremiah 29:11..."I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
I miss Floyd so bad. He was so much fun.
I will never miss God, for He is always with me no matter what.
He has something in His hand for me today. I can't wait to find out what it is.

I am new at your church! My husband and I have attended for two Sundays now. He was recently in a bad motorcycle accident but the Lord has a plan for him and spared his life. We have enjoyed your church and feel very at home there. Everyone is so kind. We are from Indian Rocks Baptist Church where I attended school with your son Steve. We haven’t felt like it is the right church for us and we feel we have found the right church now. The accident was July 8th my husband is home and doing well. I remember you talking about your blog so today I checked it out and want to say thank you. I needed it more than you could imagine! Today’s blog was perfect! I’ve been so worried about things lately but I have to realize God is good and on my side and with me always. Your blog really confirmed that for me today! We have enjoyed your church and I think coffee with Steve is great! Thank you for being an inspiration and having a caring heart. And you may not know us in person yet but, if you could keep us in your prayers it would be appreciated. We have our hands full lately but again God is good and most times our disappointments are his appointments but the fact my husband lived is what im grateful for.
Sincerely, Arlene
