Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
You know my life really changed significantly the first time I read this Psalm with open eyes. "It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture." Boy what a perspective to go through life with. It certainly explains a few things.
He is the creator. That takes a load off of me. I am not responsible for all of creation. In fact I am just a sheep in one little field, in one little country, in one little space in time. He made me and therefore designed in me all of the needs that I have. He is not surprised that I have them. He has already made provision for all of those needs.
So what is my job?
Enter in to His gates with thanksgiving. Be thankful, bless His name. Oh and by the way, "The Lord is God" well that's a relief. He is good, another plus. His faithfulness has been the same in all generations. Such a deal!
Lord, help me to just calm down this morning and realize there is nothing that has surprised you. Nothing has caught you off guard. You are the same God this morning that you have always been since the beginning. Help me to go through this day rejoicing in you and feeding as a sheep in your pasture. In my heart right now, I am shouting for joy, and giving you praise in your presence in which I live in continually.
Amen.
